Intimidate

Image
Hello! I’ll be giving you all a lesson on intimidate today! I’m super excited to do this so let’s get going. What is Intimidate? Intimidate is an ability that was introduced to M:TG during Zendikar. This ability is similar to the ability fear. Fear stated: This creature can't be blocked except by artifact creatures and/or black creatures. Intimidate on the other hand is an ability where creatures can only be blocked by other creatures that one share it’s color or is an artifact. Intimidate, in my opinion, is a better version of fear that works with all colors. This ability is very unique, here are a few facts you might want to know: First Introduced: Zendikar Last Used In: Commander 2017 Actual Text: Intimidate (This creature can't be blocked except by artifact creatures and/or creatures that share a color with it.) Statistics (as of November 2018): 19 cards Black:63% Green:11% Red:5% White:5% Artifact:11% Multicolor:5% Examples My Opinion My opinion of this ability is that it ...

Undergrowth

What's up everyone!  Today I'll be reviewing one of the newest abilities Undergrowth. What is Undergrowth Undergrowth is an ability introduced in Guilds of Ravnica.  Undergrowth is a green/black ability that uses the number of creatures in your graveyard to do certain abilities such as lose life, gain life, get +1/+1 counters, and more! Some Examples: Kraul Foragers! A great card to help gain life in mid or later game. In a sacrifice deck, this could be an awesome saving grace when you might need life. Necrotic Wound is an Instant that was printed in Guilds of Ravnica. It targets a creature and deals -1/-1 counters and makes the creature weaker. This is a great instant when you need removal for a big creature or threatening one. Vigorspore Wurm gives a target creature vigilance and a good +X/+X until end of turn. This can really help make a big stompy blocker and/or attacker. Along with that, this wurmy boi can't be blocked by more than one creature, so if it attacks, a...

Lessons From A Commander Player: Refining

Image
Hello everyone! Today we will be discussing revising, and testing decks. These things are very important to be a good player.  Refining a deck For some people refining a deck is simple, and to other people, it’s not simple at all. Most decks have cards known as “Filler cards” these cards are just in the deck until you can get better cards to replace them. The easiest way to refine a deck is to find cards that don’t fit exactly the deck's purpose and replace those cards with cards that do fit the deck. For example, replace a vanilla creature like colossapede with a creature like Grunn, The lonely king. Go through all the cards in the deck and take out all the cards you have as options. From there, decide which you can keep, and which should be replaced. During this process, it is important that you also look at what the deck's focus is, for example, I have a graveyard deck so I know that my deck would be more creature heavy than everything else. However, if you are playing a ...

Ral Zerak

Image
Hello everyone, I am very excited to be doing this post today. This is my first history of a Planeswalker series.  I hope you all enjoy!  History Ral began as an expansion character in DOPT with UR spell deck. He didn’t get any background besides being an Izzet mage and walker.  From there he made his first debut in Return to Ravnica. He was one of the main characters in RtR.  Niv-Mizzet was researching Implicit Maze and was keeping the reasoning for the researching secret but made Ral head researcher on the case.  Implicit Maze Research The Implicit Maze was a failsafe for the guild. It was there to either restructure the guildpact or use the implicit power of the Supreme Verdict to essentially reset Ravnica by destroying Ravnica. Ral during his research came into conflict with the Golgari Guild searching for Leylines in their territory named the Undercity.  Ral, however, was not very diplomatic and ended up getting into a battle with some Golgari m...

Wither

Image
Introduction Welcome back to another post everyone.  Today's post is about the ability Wither. Wither is a very interesting ability that very few creatures have. Creatures with wither deal damage in the form of -1/-1 counters. Wither is similar to infect but  doesn't give your opponent  poison counters when they're dealt damage by the creature. However, wither and infect go hand in hand.  Wither hasn't been in a set since Eventide, which makes it an older ability in MTG's history. Many newer players do not know about the ability, and older players try to avoid it or exploit it depending on their play style. The first set that wither appeared in was  the set Shadowmoor. There are only 37 cards printed with wither out of those cards; 28% are black, 28% are red, 12% are green, 8% are black and green, 8% are red and green, 4% are black and red,  4% are blue and black,  4% are white and red, and 4% are artifacts. What is wither? Put simply, with...
